Went to the *GASP* mall!

July 26th, 2008 at 01:12 am

Yeah, well I had to get my rings inspected! I DESPISE the mall!!!! Figured I would treat DH to a pretzel since I had a BOGO coupon. Sheesh, can't believe those things cost $2.49 plus tax. YIKES!
Well, my diamond was loose so they have to send it out for repair. I'm just wearing my mom's gold band (that is part of my "set") and it feels strange. The repair will cost $0 as we bought the service plan many years ago. Smile Not the first time I've had to use it either.

Found a dime and a nickel on our way in - a good find!

Got home to find an envelope stating "We thank you for your time and effort in participating in this important research." There was a check for $25 ! I have NO clue what this was for!

Also got a $20 rebate for DH's contact lenses and $17.52 refunded for overpayment on my car loan I just refinanced. Nice haul today!

I see that I have two pinecone surveys in my inbox - one is a product eval follow up. Gotta go make that easy money now.

Have a great evening everyone!

lol BA! Yeah, goes along with that whole not liking to spend money problem I have. Curses to me! Wink The smell of that place actually makes me nauseous - no joke.

I know what you mean ... I was so happy when a strip mall in my area put in a freestanding JC Penney's. Now I can avoid the mall, the parking is less congested, it is never crowded, and I can usually find the right sizes I am looking for.

I don't mind the mall. Smile In the past my dad and I have gone "mall walking". Great exercise - especially with both of us leaving our wallets/purses locked in the trunk! Big Grin
I live directly across the freeway from TWO malls. In the past three years I've lived here, I've only gone there by myself once (to Claire's to buy some jewelry). I've been there maybe 10 times with other people (besides my dad)- 3 of those times to go see a movie at the theater on the third floor (had free movie passes two of those times).

Just out of curiosity, why do you despise the mall?

I guess I can understand if someone have no interest in it. I only have a few interests in the mall. The rest, I really couldn't care less.

However, to despise it? Do tell! Smile

Well, BA, as discussed in your blog - I don't care for shopping in general. The mall comes across as a bunch of overpriced crap I don't need! Hello? Two kiosks full of more cell phone covers than I've ever seen? DH tried to look really engaged in an "important" (fake) conversation with me to avoid some guy trying to sell us lotion. Didn't work and they guy still butted in. We just kept walking as I have no problem pretending I didn't even see him. DH hasn't mastered this yet and gets all worked up around the kiosks. Sheesh, if I need lotion I'll go spend a couple $$ on Udderly Smooth at Walmart or Target - the only lotion I can stand to touch. I don't even want to know what that crap was the guy was selling.

Well I hate the smells, I'm not big on expensive name brand clothing, and the sales often don't bring things down to a price I'm willing to pay. Oh yes, and don't forget the puppy mill puppies everone always oohs and aahs over!

I know where to find everything I need, and the answer is just never "at the mall". I go there twice a year to get my rings inspected, and DH drags me there every once in a while because he wants to look at something. Oh, I did have to run there a few weeks ago thanks to the Sears Shop Vac fiasco

I don't like malls either, the only thing I like about them is the books stores.

So true. I can relate to everything you said.

I appreciate the mall, because it draws other people to it. If there were no malls, all the stores that I shop at would be much more crowded. Malls rule - for other people.

    As for me, though...ugh.

lol baselle! I love your way of thinking! Maybe in that respect, the mall isn't so bad after all. Wink
