Having 2nd thoughts

September 7th, 2008 at 08:04 pm

Well we went out on a search today for a product that we never did find. How hard IS it to find a flat plain black license plate frame for a reasonable price?? I want to make my own custom frame to match some things in my car, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a piece of plastic. Anyways, did not yet find what I'm looking for.

Did buy a few things though. Got two pairs of shorts at Walmart for $7 each. Great since I only had one pair of shorts that fit me!!

Also found a cookware set on clearance at Kmart for $36 (regular $69). I was really happy about this find until I unpacked it and found it doesn't really solve my problem. Our current set is over 10 years old and has seen a LOT of abuse. My roommate in college burned it when it was brand new, and of course we have gotten a lot of use out of it over the years. It would be great to have a new set of pans. The large lid fits the large pot and the large skillet in our current set. In the new set, the large lid doesn't fit the skillet. Odd. This was the whole reason we wanted a new set since everything is now sticking to our old skillet. This is by far the most used piece of cookware! Well, I put everything back in the box so we could think about it a little more. It IS a good deal and maybe we could find a separate lidded skillet that suits our needs. I don't know. Need to think about it. I really have a problem spending money even on things I might need!!

Odd. Why doesn't my blog entry from yesterday show up in the list? It was there at first since BA commented on it. Then I edited something and it never showed up on this list again. I've seen this happen to other blogs before, but never to mine.

If you do more than one post in a 24 hour period, only the most recent one will show up on the list. Nate put this in place when a lot more people started posting multiple blogs in a day which led to blogs scrolling off the front page WAY fast.

It basically is a good solution, as long as you know who are the most likely people to have multiple multiple posts in a day and know to click on their full blog link instead of just the current blog title link. Smile
Or you can use Firefox and click all the blog titles you want to read in separate tabs, then hit "older posts" and continue through them until you catch up. (Which is generally what I do, especially if I've not had a chance to catch up on blogs for more than a day or two.)

Well that would make sense, but my post yesterday disappeared about 3 minutes after I posted it. It disappeared after I edited it. I mostly posted this one to ask where the other one went!

Also, I've seen more than one post by the same person in this list, in less than a 24 hour period. I just realized it has been more than 24 hours since my last post as well. It really bothers me when this happens to other blogs. I miss things, and now folks have missed something I said.

I think each 24 hour period starts over at midnight EST. So, if you post something at 11:35 p.m. EST, then again at 12:05 a.m. EST you will have both posts show up on the list. However, if you post something at 11:35 p.m. EST and then make another post at 11:50 p.m. EST only the post you made at 11:50 p.m. EST will show up on the list. Both posts are still able to be read if a person clicks on your blog link instead of just the blog title.

However, if your post just completely disappeared after having been edited, that may be a technical issue which you may want to alert Nate or Jeffrey about.

Just a thought about the cookware - have you ever considered buying used Revere Ware? The older copper bottom stuff is great and even when stuff sticks it can be easily cleaned. I don't recommend you buy the newer stuff as it is very thin and poor quality. You can find it in ebay but you will pay a premium for it there. However I find it all the time at thrift stores and garage sales.

I love my Revere Ware too! You can even buy it by the peice instead of having to buy a set.

That's funny that you both should mention Revere Ware because my mother said the exact same thing. The problem is, EVERYTHING sticks to it and I really do not enjoy using it at my mother's house! Is there just something wrong with her set or is this the norm?

Does she have the newer stuff? If it's marked Taiwan or China it's garbage. Even when I burn something in it I find it easy to clean by just soaking for a couple hours.

lol... No, she's had it for almost 40 years. I should have mentioned that before! Far from new.
